I absolutely cannot believe that my little baby is now in kindergarten - Wow! He is having the time of his life. A friend who is a teacher tells me that they love school until around third grade - then they begin to loathe it (generally). So, I guess I'll enjoy this now. He jumps out of bed each morning raring to go to school, even though he's in afternoon 'K'!
I'm already about to be a 'bad parent' - and school only started last week. Mac is doing Ironman Wisconsin this weekend - Sunday - and the race runs until midnight - I don't think Mac will take that long - but who knows? I want Jake to see his dad finish the race - so I don't know if we'll make it back in time for school on Monday. I don't want to get off on the wrong foot with the school, but Mac's been training for this for a year - I think he needs Jake there as much as Jake needs to be there - he's very much a daddy's boy right now.
We've had an absolutely wonderful Labor Day weekend - a day of school clothes shopping (ok, and a little 'mom' shopping too) on Saturday. Sunday we hung out around the house in the morning and then went miniature golfing and go-karting in the afternoon. Then our friends Colleen and Eric came over for a late dinner/dessert. Today (Monday) was a day spent lazing around the house - a VERY RARE occurence around here.
Mac is at his fantasy football draft in the city tonight - so who knows when he'll be home? Jake and I had a 'Jakey-Mommy' night, complete with fish on the grill and cocktail shrimp. Jake and I both love seafood, Mac hates it - so the only time we have it at home is when Mac is gone and we can cook it on the grill (I admit, I don't particularly like the entire house smelling like fish either!)
Well - that's about all for tonight - must go finish up the laundry and try to get some sleep myself - something which has eluded me lately - I used to be out the minute I hit the pillow - now I toss and turn and find myself working on my computer at 3:00am! Not like me at all! I think some of it may be that I have a shoulder injury that is producing constant pain. I must make it a point to find an ortho doc this week to take a look at it!
Night, night!
