Summer has officially started! Jake is done with kindergarten and is happily spending his time at swimming lessons and playing baseball. I don't know what we'd do without my mom - all year - but especially in the summer. She makes it possible for Jake to have a FABULOUS summer - we all appreciate it so very much.
I cannot believe that my 'baby' (yes, he'll ALWAYS be my baby) has fininshed kindergarten and will start first grade in the fall. Wasn't it just yesterday that we brought him home from the hospital?
My first two triathlons of the year are now in the history books. First was Tri-Shark (6/4) - a little sprint race in my hometown. It was a ton of fun even though I didn't break 1:30 as I had hoped. The next one was the Reebok River's Edge Tri - another sprint distance (6/12). Again, I had hoped to break 1:30, but it just wasn't meant to be - I missed it by about 3 minutes. I guess I need to work on my swimming and biking :)
I'm adding my times in here so that I'll be able to look back at them later:
Tri-Shark: Swim: 14:21, T1: 2:04, Bike: 45:33, T2: 1:23, Run: 29:23, Total: 1:32:44
Reebok: Swim: 13:52, T1: 3:30, Bike: 45:35, T2: 2:11, Run: 27:57, Total: 1:33:04
The Reebok race was an all-women race - which is a nice change of pace from the testosterone-fests that some co-ed races turn into. Only in a women's race will someone say 'excuse me' if they bump you in the swim. Only in a women's race are people ultra-polite when passing on the bike. It was a fun day, made even better by Mac and Jake cheering me on. Something about high-fiving your son as you finish a race is just so cool!
Next up: Biking, biking and more biking...might do a 1/2 Ironman at the end of July - that is still up in the air.
Bye! Have a great day!
